Ron MacDougall aka Cpt. Ron
Currently Riding: KTM 450XCW Timbersled Snow Bike with Thumper Racing Big Bore 570cc & Stage 3 Camshaft
First sled was a 1967 SkiDoo Olympic.
Cpt. Ron raced sleds throughout the 70’s and early 80’s; … ice ovals, ice drag racing, and then asphalt drag racing in 1996 and 1997. Won an NHRA Division Points Race on a Custom Built Asphalt Dragger powered by a 925cc Rotax triple built by Cpt. Ron himself! Cpt. Ron is the proud owner of a NHRA Wally!
Started Mountain sledding in 1993 around Revelstoke, BC.
A certified mechanic by trade. Worked at both a SkiDoo and then a Yamaha Dealership in the 70’s and 80’s. Ron was owner/operator of a performance sled shop in Calgary for several years specializing in performance engines and chassis work. He later moved out to the Okanagan opening a Polaris Dealership.

Cpt. Ron has always been a motorcycle enthusiast. Started riding at age 12 on a Suzuki 90cc Enduro. Throughout his riding days he has enjoyed many different brands such as ‘ 75 KX 250, ’74 Yamaha XS 650, ’76 Suzuki 750 Water Buffalo, ’80 Honda CB 750, ’84 Honda XR 500, ’08 Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom and is currently riding a FXDWG Harley. Ron has made several long haul trips into the US and enjoys cruising the Kootenay and Okanagan regions.

First sled was a Yamaha ET 250, but soon upgraded to an ET 340.
Started sledding with his dad at an early age on his own sled around our acreage SE of Calgary. Stepped up to Mountain riding at age 8, and climbed Turbo Mountain at age 10 on his modded SkiDoo Summit 670.
He was certified as a Polaris Master Technician in 2002, one of the youngest to ever go through the training program at age 16.
Laird is a dedicated sledder. He works away on road construction projects all over the province during the summer in order to sled all winter!
In 2008 he stepped up and built a Boosted Yamaha Nytro and started climbing the steep and gnarly chutes on Boulder Mountain. He has climbed every chute on Boulder and Turtle Mountains many times, as well as many more. Laird has appeared in several snowmobile videos featuring powder riding and chute climbing.
